How to Merge Duplicate Contacts Using Google Contacts App

Google contacts is a very useful tool/feature that allows you to save, store, and manage all your contacts like a regular contacts app. However, it comes with some additional benefits and features, i.e. real-time sync, unlimited contacts, easy backups, etc. One of the most cool features is Merge Duplicate contacts. It is always suggested to make a backup of your mobile numbers and save them into your device storage, so in case you lose your numbers you’ll be able to restore them easily. In this tutorial, we will show you how to merge duplicate contact numbers using Google contacts and remove redundancy easily.

Merge Duplicate Contacts Through Google Contacts App

Step 1: Open the Google Contacts app on your Android phone or tablet

Step 2: From the top, Choose your Google account that has duplicate contacts you want to merge

Step 3: Tap Fix & Manage From the bottom

Step 4: Now tap on Merge & fix > Merge Duplicates

Step 5: Lastly, tap Merge to merge all your duplicate contacts.

Merge Contacts Online

Step 1: Search Google Contact from the Google search engine and open the first link. Log in with your Google account if you haven’t done yet.

Step 2: Now, here you can see every contact number listed on your Google account. Click on vertical three lines from the top left corner.

Step 3: Here you can see several options such as label, import, export, merge & fix. You have to choose Merge & fix option to proceed further.

Step 4: If you don’t have any duplicate contacts you’re ok then otherwise there you’ll see a number of duplicate contact numbers. Click on Merge duplicates

Step 5: You can see all the duplicate numbers listed here. To merge contact numbers either you can merge one by one number or click on the merge all option from the bottom right.

It’ll take a few seconds or minutes depending upon the size of the duplicate contact to merge successfully.

  • Open the Google Contacts app on your Android or Tablet
  • Tap Menu (Three Lines) from the top left
  • Then Choose Suggestions
  • Tap Clean up duplicates
    If you don’t have any contact meanwhile there’s no duplicate number saved on your Google contact. Else, you’ll see duplicate numbers.
  • Tap the Merge option to merge contact one by one else Tap Merge all from the top of the screen
