Report: Google Chrome tagged as ‘Most Unsafe’ Browser in 2022

According to the stat, Google Chrome is the most used internet browser this year. However, that means it is also coming with the tag ‘most unsafe’ browser in 2022.

In Google Chrome, there are 303 vulnerabilities have been discovered in 2022 alone and 3,159 is the total number of vulnerabilities discovered in Chrome as of now, according to the most recent study by Atlas VPN. The report says Google Chrome is the only browser with new vulnerabilities in the five days in October. CVE-2022-3318, CVE-2022-3314, CVE-2022-3311, CVE-2022-3309, and CVE-2022-3307 are the latest ones.

The study was done with several other internet browsers as well. It includes Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Safari, and Opera Browser.

According to the report, Microsoft Edge, the third most popular internet browser, was reported to have 806 vulnerabilities of all time and 103 vulnerabilities in 2022 alone. As we continue reading the report, we find out that Mozilla Firefox, with 117 vulnerabilities, is the second-most susceptible browser in 2022. Apple’s Safari Browser has become the second most popular internet browser hitting over one billion users mark, yet it is reported to have fewer vulnerabilities than three other browsers. Safari browser has encountered only 26 vulnerabilities and a total of 1139 security flaws since its launch.

Coming to Opera, there are no vulnerabilities have been found in 2022 in the year, and a total of just 344 flaws reported of all time. However, because Opera also uses the Chromium engine, the flaws in Chrome may also harm Opera. But, if you look at the raw data only, Opera is the most secure internet browser in the market right now.
